An Interview with Rev. Samuel Rodriguez
Maina Mwaura sat down for an interview with Rev. Samuel Rodriguez about his new book, DACA, and the future of the Latino church and Hispanic culture in America. Rodriguez is the president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC)/CONEL, the world’s largest Hispanic Christian organization serving as a representative voice for the more than 100 million Hispanic Evangelicals assembled in over 40,118 U.S. churches and over 450,000 churches spread throughout the Spanish-speaking diaspora. He is a sought-after voice in White House and congressional meetings and is regularly featured on CNN, Fox News, NBC Telemundo, and other major news outlets. The author of The Lamb’s Agenda, Rodriguez is the senior pastor of New Seasons Christian Worship Center in Sacramento, California, where he resides with his wife Eva, their three children and two grandchildren. Here’s a short description of Rodriguez’s new book, Be Light:
Our world unravels more each day. It feels as if we’re drowning in a sea churning with greed, violence, and lust. As darkness advances, hope dims.
Yet within that reality, God gives us a profound mandate… BE LIGHT.
Light has always defined God and his followers. At creation, God spoke light into existence. Jesus is the light of the world. And we are born to absorb and then reflect God’s light.
In Be Light Samuel Rodriguez — described by Fox News and CNN as “America’s most influential Latino Evangelical leader”— provides a blueprint for confronting darkness in every realm of our lives. He issues a clarion call for individual believers and the church to rise up and once again be that bright city on a hill, which doesn’t simply expose the invading darkness, but overcomes it with God’s blazing light.
Be Light challenges you to take thirty days to begin living, even thriving, as you discover your destiny, toBe Light. You will learn how to expose the light that God has deposited, equipping us with the necessary spiritual and intellectual tools — not to fail or just survive — but to thrive. Be Light is about the light of the world and how those who name the name of Jesus get to represent Him — even to be the light.
