Jay Higham’s Youth Ministry Story

July 2nd, 2015

Pastor and long-time youth worker Jay Higham took the time to share his youth ministry story. There are a lot of great details from Jay’s journey in ministry, but these stood out to me:

Discipleship

Exciting programs and experiences can temporarily attract students, but discipleship keeps them plugged in.

Being Connected

Connecting with other youth workers at a place like NYWC reminds you that you’re not alone in ministry.

Priorities

In order to say “Yes” to a need in your family, sometimes you have to say “No” to a need in your church.

Future of Youth Ministry

If we’re not allowing youth ministry to grow, change, and develop, then we’re missing out on what God is doing in the church and in the lives of students. So it’s important to keep asking, “What’s next in youth ministry?”
