Young Adults and the church, post 3
In this Andrew Root liveBlog youth worker Jon Wasson and I discuss our cultural obsession with screens (TVs, computers, cell phones) and how this obsession makes it harder to construct meaning. Exploring how meaning is constructed, we wonder if the church has too often used its doctrine and even scripture in a ways that make it hard for people to use them to construct meaning (or encounter God). We conclude by discussing what the church might do in late-modernity, where there is too much free floating meaning, to help people find meaning.
