In this Andrew Root liveBlog, Wesley Theological Seminary professor Jessicah Krey Duckworth and I discuss our cultural cynicism in relation to the church (especially among young adults). We then explore how saying “the church is dying” is not helpful, and that it actually, paradoxically, may be more helpful to state, “the church is dead.” We conclude with a short conversation on the importance of Good Friday in a culture saturated by the hyper-real.
